葛傳椝向學習英語者講話 相關資料
一冊雖薄，講的卻是中國人學習英語的根本法度，配合葛先生另外兩本名著《英語慣用法詞典》和《英語寫作》，如能不厭枯燥，熟讀化用，一定遠勝過你去新某方、新某道之流燒錢聽段子，甚至遠遠勝過你去讀多為大學里的所謂英文系、翻譯系。

葛傳椝向學習英語者講話 作者簡介
葛傳椝（1906-1992），復旦大學教授，上世紀50年代復旦大學英語語言文學系“三巨頭”之一。幼時家境清貧，初中輟學后，自學英語。1921年考入上海電報傳習所，翌年至崇明縣立中學任教。1925年起任上海商務印書館英語編輯，直至八一三中日淞滬戰爭爆發。任職其間發現很多英語單詞的中文詞意義相同，而英語的習慣表述卻差異很大，即以6年時間編寫《英語習慣用法詞典》，于1942年出版，是為中國人編寫的第一部英語慣用法詞典。在查閱《簡明牛津詞典》（The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English） 時，發現其中不少錯誤，即致信詞典主編英人福勒 (H.W. Fowler)，為福勒所欽佩。之后，為中華書局、競文書局編寫英語讀本。1945年起任教于上海光華大學。中華人民共和國成立后，接上級教育主管單位命令，1951年光華大學與大夏大學合并成立華東師范大學，繼續在此執教至1954年，繼而調往復旦大學外文系任教，直至1986年退休。1992年7月在上海逝世 。著有久負盛名的《英漢四用詞典》，《新英漢詞典》（主要編纂者之一），以及《英語慣用法詞典》、《英語寫作》，被學界譽為一代宗師、英語慣用法權威，為中國英語教育界先驅之一。
